My Mentor buddy (preview)

  • On the regular pages he peeks in: hanging down from the top of the screen, or leaning in from the left or right edge. Then he climbs up and hides upside-down behind the notch / Dynamic Island, peeking out now and then, and every so often pops in somewhere new.
  • Tap him while he's hiding to bring him down. Tap him when he's out to say hi (in the app this opens My Mentor). Press and hold to ask a quick question.
  • Drag him anywhere if he's in the way. Let go and he climbs back up to the top.
  • Only a tap on him wakes him. Swiping or opening the sidebar doesn't, and the sidebar covers him.
  • He has a face: he blinks, smiles, his mouth moves when he talks, he looks surprised when you pick him up and gets happy ^ ^ eyes when celebrating. While resting his eyes are closed and little "z z z" float up.
  • Little robot sound effects (after your first tap on the page, as browsers require). They can be switched off in User Settings.

On the My Mentor page

The purple "My Mentor" bar is gone. He lives on the line above the conversation title: he walks along it, sits with his legs dangling over it and kicks, then gets up and wanders again. He's always on here and on Practice Quizzes.

Coming next: outfits as Custom App Rewards, the native Dynamic Island version (needs an app update), and turning him on for students after App Store approval.
